The hours-long meeting aimed at devising ways for the enrollment of sickle cell patients into the social insurance scheme  & ensuring effective service delivery to patients enrolled in the scheme. The participants suggested ways that will facilitate enrollment & service delivery. Some of the recommendations from the meeting include:

a- The need to enroll as soon as possible 200 sickle cell patients into the insurance scheme.

b- The Amana Sickle Cell Foundation will facilitate the enrollment of 200 sickle cell patients into the insurance scheme, being the foundation that serves sickle cell patients.

c- Federal Medical Center Azare will be the site for accessing services for sickle cell patients enrolled in the social insurance scheme as opposed to accessing services in Primary Health Cares as initially suggested; The basis for this conclusion is that FMC has the facilities, equipment & human resource & technical know-how to effectively deal with sickle cell disease complications & consult warriors which are characterized as special patients that require special care.

c- That FMC Azare’s readiness to support sickle cell patients & the foundation is unyielding.
