The Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASCHMA) recently paid a working visit to the Amana Sickle Cell Foundation headquarters in Azare, Katagum, as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare services for individuals living with sickle cell disease.
The visit, anchored by a team from BASCHMA, focused on two major objectives:
- ✅ Data Cleaning Exercise: To verify and update the database of already enrolled sickle cell patients under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
- 📈 Expansion Planning: To assess and prepare for the enrollment of additional sickle cell patients into the scheme, following the request made by His Excellency, Alh. (Arc) Audu Sule Katagum, Wazirin Katagum and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Foundation.
During the engagement, the BASCHMA team conducted an on-site physical verification of enrolled beneficiaries. The exercise is aimed at streamlining access to healthcare services and optimizing the Foundation’s role in supporting vulnerable patients under the NHIS platform.
After the verification activities, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, BOT, sharing warm pleasantries and reaffirming their dedication to collaborative efforts in tackling the burden of sickle cell disease across Bauchi State.
The Amana Sickle Cell Foundation appreciates BASCHMA’s continued partnership and strategic outreach, which remains central to improving health equity and service delivery for sickle cell warriors across the region.
